The Highlights of Australia itinerary allows the Aussie-curious traveller to visit the iconic must-sees of east-coast Australia over a duration that is just under 10 days.

You are going to hit all the significant spots – the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, Sydney, Melbourne, and the Great Ocean Road. When you say that you’ve been to Australia, this itinerary is it.

Day 1

Enjoy an afternoon Sydney orientation tour and learn about Sydney’s history dating back to 1788 to today.

Tour highlights:

  • Visit Mrs. Macquarie’s Point with its famous spectacular viewing point for the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge
  • Take delight in the magnificent views over Darling Harbour and Sydney Skyline
  • Stroll past eclectic cafes and shops at Potts Point and Kings Cross
  • Visit local spots and get the inside scoop from your local guide

Day 2

After breakfast there is a gentle walking tour from our hotel located in “The Rocks” area of Sydney to Sydney Harbour to join the most sensational harbour cruise.

Your personal captain and host will share the rich history of Sydney Harbour that includes sites of:

  • The Sydney Harbour Bridge
  • The Sydney Opera House
  • The bays and coves of Sydney Harbour
  • Plenty of prime photo opportunities with Sydney’s iconic landmarks as you learn about their history


Enjoy the afternoon to explore Sydney at your leisure. Why not visit one of Sydney’s markets like Paddington Market, take a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Opera House, or a thrilling ride on Oz Jet Boating on Sydney Harbour.

This evening enjoy dinner at Butcher and the Farmer Restaurant in Sydney’s trendy Tramshed location.

Day 3

MAKE YOUR WAY TO

Fly to Cairns and after the scenic drive north to Port Douglas, spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the wonderful seaside town of Port Douglas. Tonight, enjoy an evening like no other you will ever experience at Australia’s only rainforest dining experience, the award winning Flames of the Forest; you will be transported into a world beyond your imagination.

Day 4

ENJOY THE

You will join Australia’s most awarded reef cruise for a full day to the Low Isles of the Great Barrier Reef that includes:

  • The renowned Agincourt Reef with clear visibility of coral formations and marine life
  • A catamaran cruise to an exclusive activity platform

Optional activities include:

  • Swimming
  • Snorkelling
  • Exploring the underwater observatory
  • Discoveries with the marine biologists

Day 5

You will explore the world’s oldest tropical rainforest estimated to be 180 million years old, the Daintree Rainforest.

The Daintree Rainforest is one of the few places in the world where the rainforest meets the reef

This part of the trip includes:

  • The Mossman Gorge
  • A ferry ride to cross the Daintree River
  • A visit to the Daintree Discovery Centre to learn about the complex ecology of this region
  • A drive to Cape Tribulation for an in-depth understanding of the ancient rainforests in this section of this National Park

Day 6

YOUR DAY AT LEISURE AT

You can explore the main street with its variety of shops or simply relax under the palms by the sea.

Day 7

Enjoy a leisurely morning and then transfer to Cairns airport and fly to Melbourne.
Get settled into your hotel and take a stroll down the Crown Promenade.
Try one of my recommended dining spots for dinner.

Day 8

SITESEEING IN

Today, your  tour includes a number of highlights:

  • Fitzroy Gardens with its prime attraction, Cook’s Cottage
  • The Shrine of Remembrance
  • St Kilda Road
  • Victoria Market
  • Melbourne University
  • Parliament House
  • Albert Park Lake
  • St Patrick’s Cathedral

The Melbourne sightseeing tour will end at 1:00pm, allowing the second half of this day free for you to explore Melbourne on your own.

This evening you are in for a treat as you embark on a culinary journey on your Progressive Degustation Walking Tour. This is the best way to sample some of Melbourne’s wonderful restaurants with a food and wine pairing at three different restaurants all within walking distance of each other. The evening will leave you inspired by the chefs creations and full of tasty morsels.

Day 9

Today you will do a full day circular drive along the Great Ocean Road, taking the coastal route outbound and returning via a scenic inland route. This is one of Australia’s iconic and widely written about scenic drives.

You’ll make stops at several viewpoints to see the dramatic rock formations including:

  • The famous Twelve Apostles
  • Loch Ard Gorge
  • The Arch
